Ancient Egypt’s Middle Kingdom

Ancient Egypt’s Middle Kingdom. Implied by archeaologists as the Second Period of Stability and Prosperity in Ancient Egypt as the Middle Kingdom 2055=1650 BC. .After the reduction of the Old Kingdom approx.. 2180 BC, Egypt entered a period of fragile Pharaonic power and decentralized rule known as the First Intermediate Period. Individual Regional Powers which competed against each other for control and power until approx.. 2055BC when Mentuhotep II was able to defeat his rivals in both Upper and Lower Egypt and secured the 11th Dynasty with a Capital at Thebes known now as Modern Luxor, amalgamating all of Egypt under a singular Government again, he established the Middle Kingdom. However amalgamated again, Egypt unfortunately did not attain the heights of Power that produced the Great Pyramids of the Old Kingdom. The Middle Kingdom only lasted from the 11th Dynasty thru to the 13th Dynasty and the building which took place was on a much more unassuming scale which suggested that the Kingdom and the economy were not as strong as during the period of the Old Kingdom. In between the 11th and 12 th Dynasties the Centre of Control moved from Thebes in the South to Lisht which is near to the Oasis of Fayoum. The Pharaohs of the Middle Kingdom of Lisht constructed several Pyramids of a much more modest scale than those that made the Old Kingdom fanous, but unfortunately most of these are ruined due to their poor quality of construction. After approx.. 400 Years and three Dynasties the 13th Dynasty’s control over Egypt deteriorated and the Nile Valley plummeted into a Second period of disarray which became known as the Second Intermidiate Period 1650-1550 BC.
